Singer Mindy McCready, who is no stranger to the courtroom, recently petitioned a Tennessee judge to withdraw her guilty plea in a probation violation case citing new evidence.

The country singer had pleaded guilty to violating her probation on a drug charge by driving on a suspended license and leaving Tennessee. McCready, 30, was scheduled to find out Tuesday if a judge would send her to jail for violating her probation on a suspended three-year sentence for fraudulently obtaining the prescription painkillers Oxycontin.

But her attorney, Lee Dryer, said the singer’s relatives in Florida found a document that showed her license was reinstated the day before she was arrested on the driving charge in May 2005. Dryer said the new evidence was given to him late Monday night. (source)

I’ve watched enough Law & Order in my day to qualify me to practice law in about 15 states (mostly southern and Maine!) so I can tell you that a judge will unequivocally deny her petition, because a plea can not be withdrawn once entered into court records. There is no precedent for it, so a judge will have no other recourse but to quash her petition and keep her guilty plea. Country music singer, and country fried hottie Mindy McCready, has just filed suit against her ex-boyfriend William McKnight alleging that he hurt her career by his actions.

Mindy McCready has sued her former boyfriend for $3 million, claiming he beat her last year and that the incident hurt her music career. McCready, who had a No. 1 hit in 1996, “Guys Do It All the Time” , sued last month in Davidson County Circuit Court, The Tennessean newspaper reported yesterday. The lawsuit claims the alleged assault hindered the 30-year-old country singer’s ability to book performances and other work. William McKnight is facing charges of attempted murder and breaking into McCready’s home and beating her severely in May 2005. (source)

Law & Order reruns on TNT have taught me that most lawsuits are frivolous attempts by nefarious MBA graduates to bilk money from charity organizations. However, I think this suit may have some merit. I don’t listen to country music, but I’m pretty sure that even country music fans don’t want to see a formerly hot singer trying to perform with two black eyes and a mouth full of bloody, broken teeth. Having your ass kicked by a guy 150 lbs heavier than you on a regular basis can put a serious damper on your professional and personal life. The good news is that the big strong man who liked to hit tiny beautiful women is facing charges and will hopefully do some time on the business end of some prison rape.

We all know that Mindy McCready has made some poor choices in her life but I think she is finally starting to get on the right path with this lawsuit. I got sued one time, but it was for being a dead sexy mother fucker. Guilty as charged, your honor. Guilty. As. Charged.

Troubled country star MINDY McCREADY has spoken out about her personal problems for the first time since attempting suicide this summer (05).

The pregnant GUYS DO IT ALL THE TIME singer sat down for a chat with US talk show queen OPRAH WINFREY to reveal she’s determined to fight her problems, which include charges on drug and alcohol abuse, head on.

And she insists she never really intended to kill herself when she suffered a drugs overdose in a Florida hotel in July (05).

Fighting back tears, she tells Oprah, “I don’t think I wanted to die.”

The singer, who was once engaged to actor DEAN CAIN, also reveals she has visited her imprisoned ex-boyfriend, WILLIAM McKNIGHT, who she accused of breaking into her Tennessee home and beating her until she was unconscious to reveal he’s the father of her unborn baby.

The couple has now reconciled and McCready is confident her boyfriend will never hit her again: “I don’t think so, I hope not.”

“I don’t think so”. Well, that’s good enough for me. I guess this little fairy tale will work out just fine then. Nothing like a little blunt force trauma to a pregnant chick to really cement a relationship. A man charged last spring with trying to kill Mindy McCready was with her Friday when police found her unconscious of an apparent overdose in the lobby of a Florida hotel.

Just goes to show you can’t keep a good woman down. Mindy McCready, who by all rights is the most beautiful country singer ever, decided hang out with her abusive ex-boyfriend for a night of drinking, pills and suicide. I don’t know about you but you have to have some serious mojo to convince a hotty like Mindy to let you beat the shit out of her, convince her to try to steal two 1 million dollar boats, and forge prescriptions for your Oxycontin.
