Singer Mindy McCready, who is no stranger to the courtroom, recently petitioned a Tennessee judge to withdraw her guilty plea in a probation violation case citing new evidence.

The country singer had pleaded guilty to violating her probation on a drug charge by driving on a suspended license and leaving Tennessee. McCready, 30, was scheduled to find out Tuesday if a judge would send her to jail for violating her probation on a suspended three-year sentence for fraudulently obtaining the prescription painkillers Oxycontin.

But her attorney, Lee Dryer, said the singer’s relatives in Florida found a document that showed her license was reinstated the day before she was arrested on the driving charge in May 2005. Dryer said the new evidence was given to him late Monday night. (source)

I’ve watched enough Law & Order in my day to qualify me to practice law in about 15 states (mostly southern and Maine!) so I can tell you that a judge will unequivocally deny her petition, because a plea can not be withdrawn once entered into court records. There is no precedent for it, so a judge will have no other recourse but to quash her petition and keep her guilty plea. I’m pretty sure I’m right because I used words like precedent, unequivocally, and quash. Lawyers rule! Here are some images of Mindy McCready before she was caged heat.

Keith Urban, probably the scariest guy I have ever seen, just got voted sexiest country star by what I can only guess are eyeless, cave-dwelling trolls with translucent skin who are living in the Appalachian Hills.

The poll, conducted by US magazine Country Weekly, attracted over 32,000 votes with the singer grabbing the top spot ahead of Renee Zellweger’s former spouse Kenny Chesney.

Country music singer, and country fried hottie Mindy McCready, has just filed suit against her ex-boyfriend William McKnight alleging that he hurt her career by his actions.

Mindy McCready has sued her former boyfriend for $3 million, claiming he beat her last year and that the incident hurt her music career. McCready, who had a No. 1 hit in 1996, “Guys Do It All the Time” , sued last month in Davidson County Circuit Court, The Tennessean newspaper reported yesterday. The lawsuit claims the alleged assault hindered the 30-year-old country singer’s ability to book performances and other work. William McKnight is facing charges of attempted murder and breaking into McCready’s home and beating her severely in May 2005. (source)

Law & Order reruns on TNT have taught me that most lawsuits are frivolous attempts by nefarious MBA graduates to bilk money from charity organizations. However, I think this suit may have some merit. I don’t listen to country music, but I’m pretty sure that even country music fans don’t want to see a formerly hot singer trying to perform with two black eyes and a mouth full of bloody, broken teeth. Having your ass kicked by a guy 150 lbs heavier than you on a regular basis can put a serious damper on your professional and personal life. The good news is that the big strong man who liked to hit tiny beautiful women is facing charges and will hopefully do some time on the business end of some prison rape.

We all know that Mindy McCready has made some poor choices in her life but I think she is finally starting to get on the right path with this lawsuit. I got sued one time, but it was for being a dead sexy mother fucker. Guilty as charged, your honor. Guilty. As. Charged.
