John Singleton, director of Boyz in the Hood and some other stuff, was minding his own business on Thursday night when a women walked out in front of him and made him kill her. How annoying:

LAPD officers tell TMZ Singleton was driving his 2001 Lexus SUV around 8:00 PM on a Los Angeles street, when a female pedestrian, not in a crosswalk, suddenly stepped in front of Singleton’s car. Police say Singleton immediately stopped and waited for police and an ambulance to arrive. The 57-year-old woman, identified as Constance Russell of Los Angeles, was taken to a nearby hospital where she died Friday morning. Police tell TMZ Singleton was not speeding at the time and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Cops say their investigation has concluded and they’ve determined that this was a “very, very unfortunate accident.” Singleton will not be cited for any violation.

You know who else won’t be cited for a violation? Constance Russell of Los Angeles. She’s dead. When interviewed from the morgue Constance Russell said, “A 2001 Lexus? Really? What’s he directing now, traffic?”

So apparently there was a Gala at  the the Costume Institute this week. And apparently there is actually a Costume Institute as well. From the looks of the photos coming from the gala, it was more of a cleavage contest than costume exhibition. I should to add some of my best costumes to the Gala, like the hefty bag and purple gloves that I used for my California Raisin costume in the 9th grade at Anna Wilson’s costume party. Which, as it turns out, wasn’t really a costume party. Oh yeah, they weren’t  laughing any more when the second story caught fire, were they? I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Links!
