Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter Dies (1962-2006)

Crocodile Hunter and conservationist Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray Sunday while diving off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Apparently he was swimming near a 9 foot stingray when he was impaled through the heart by the poisonous barb on the stingray’s tail; killing him instantly.

“He came up on top of the stingray and the stingray’s barb went up and into his chest and put a hole in his heart,” John Stainton, Irwin’s longtime director and producer, told reporters in Australia.

Steve is survived by his wife Terri and his two children. Steve Irwin was a badass motherfucker who has been bitten thousands of times by various animals in his pursuit to teach people about nature. Rest in peace, bro.
